Summer may be upon us, but there’s no slowing down at EBG. In the lead-up to the midpoint of 2017, we had the pleasure of attending four top conferences around the U.S., from Los Angeles to New Orleans: U.S. Travel Association’s IPW Marketplace in Washington, D.C.; Event & Arena Marketing Conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Ticketmaster Client Summit in Los Angeles, California; and the Society for Human Resource Management Annual Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.
EBG is always looking for ways to connect with those in the industry, and these events gave us the opportunity to meet with our incredible partners, establish new relationships, share our new Corporate Rewards & Incentives program – and discover novel ways to best serve our partners, clients and customers. As one of the largest privately held travel and entertainment providers in the United States, EBG is committed to providing rewarding experiences in every way possible and these conferences are key to furthering our mission. Here’s a quick recap of each conference:
U.S. Travel Association’s IPW Marketplace
Washington D.C.—June 3-7, 2017
EBG’s Product Development team assembled in Washington, D.C., for another exciting U.S. Travel Association’s IPW Marketplace. During three intense days, our team had over 150 meetings with top supplier partners to discuss our partnerships and how to best serve our mutual guests. Opening night was hosted at the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum with a concert at the National Mall by Aloe Blacc. Not to be rivaled by the evening events, the daily lunches featured performances by Broadway’s hottest shows and even a surprise concert by Ne-Yo. The Washington Nationals led the final evening at Nationals Park, complete with a private fireworks display. EBG also hosted our own annual event at IPW, which has become a hot ticket for our tour and attraction suppliers. This year, 200 of our valued partners joined the EBG Product Development teams at RPM Italian for a five-star event with good music, great food and drink – and even better comradery!
Event & Arena Marketing Conference
Tulsa, OK – June 14-17, 2017
EAMC is dedicated to the talented professionals that cross the scope of the live entertainment industry: marketing, publicity, promotions, group sales, live touring shows and arenas. EBG was a sponsor for the 38th annual conference and headed out to Tulsa to share in the rich musical heritage, which has inspired musicians like Garth Brooks, Bob Dylan, Leon Russell and Eric Clapton. The conference kicked off with a party hosted by Cirque du Soleil’s newest arena show, Crystal, at the Legends Dance Hall. The evening was filled with ice sculptures, food, drinks, line dancing and more! WWE hosted breakfast the following morning, welcoming the legendary commentator Jim Ross, who not only shared great insight but also his own J.R.’s BBQ Sauce. The day was lined up with engaging, insightful sessions, including keynote speaker Jody Bennett, who spoke about how to differentiate yourself and define your brand. The conference culminated in the T-Town Throw Down Street Party – a rollicking celebration of puffy tacos and live luchador wrestling on a closed-down street party in Downtown Tulsa. Yee-haw!
SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition
New Orleans, LA – June 18-21, 2017
More than 15,000 HR professionals descended on the Big Easy for the SHRM 2017 Annual Conference & Exposition – the best and biggest HR conference in the world – for four days of networking, learning and having fun. In partnership with Universal Orlando Resort, TicketsAtWork.com, EBG’s corporate benefits platform, introduced sun and sand to the grand expo hall with a tropical-themed setup to reflect Universal’s new water theme park, Volcano Bay. Guests had the opportunity to take pictures with Gru and the Minions from Despicable Me, while learning about the exclusive ways TicketsAtWork can help employees create memorable experiences and save big as they plan for vacation. Must-see speakers delivered memorable messages, with recurring themes of hard work and humility. In addition to SHRM’s impressive line-up of speakers, Project: Time Off joined TicketsAtWork for a presentation about the value of vacation time for personal well-being, business performance and professional success. It was another successful year at SHRM, and we look forward to the 2018 SHRM Annual Conference in Chicago!
Ticketmaster Client Summit
Los Angeles, CA – June 19-21, 2017
Ticketmaster clients from the arts and sports worlds came together for two dynamic days in L.A. to explore strategies to enrich the fan experience and accelerate revenue generation. This year’s summit reached record numbers, with 120 speakers, 180 sessions – and over 500 client attendees. EBG was a sponsor for the second year in a row, providing WiFi to all attendees, and sharing their expertise with Ticketmaster clients on how to reach new patrons through our direct-to-consumer channels. The conference kicked off with the #TMSummit2017 Poolside Party on Tuesday night, with an opportunity to dip into the glamour of Hollywood. Jeffrey Seller, the lead producer of the hit musical Hamilton, Rent and Avenue Q, delivered a fascinating keynote, sharing his story on how he bridges the divide between art and commerce. The Tony Award-winning theatrical producer – who launched Broadway's first rush ticket and lottery ticket policies – raised the curtain on his unique Broadway experiences and spoke about his life-long passion for creating memorable experiences, and how important it is for the production to connect with the audience. Seller’s inspiring stories reminded us all why we love this business and how important live event experiences are for everyone – the way they transcend and connect us in so many ways. The conference’s grand finale took over the Garland Hotel's Beverly Park – a breezy, outdoor oasis in North Hollywood with a backyard BBQ party.
